Political Politics
Politics is an odd, three headed, two assed, lime green monster. It is abso-freakin-lutely crazy the way politicians vie for their jobs while bad-mouthing each other and running our country further into ruin. John Kerry is being asked to apologize because http://edition.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/11/01/kerry.remarks/ he has made an unfortunately painfully true statement.
What he was supposed to say: "I can't overstress the importance of a great education. Do you know where you end up if you don't study, if you aren't smart, if you're intellectually lazy? You end up getting us stuck in a war in Iraq."
What he did say: "You know, education -- if you make the most of it, you study hard and you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don't, you get stuck in Iraq."
The issue that the red states and other evil republicans take with what mister kerry said revolves around the fact that the statement he actually made implies that the soldiers are uneducated. Those pink elephant riders believe that Kerry owes the troops an apology, and I agree, partially. THEY want Kerry to apologize to the troops for what he said; I want Kerry to apologize to the troops for conceding the election and not winning against that no-talent ass-clown. Now I'm not gonna say soldiers are uneducated, but academic over-achievers are few and far between in armed service of any kind.
pictures for this blog will be posted later, right now the picture upload module is not functioning properly [i'll try again later today... i got some great kerry & bush pics]

Fine then. I'll say it. The soldiers are uneducated. Why would someone educated willingly go into a field in which individual choices are sacrificed in favor of a collectivist mentality in which one must do what they are told, regardless of one's personal feelings about it? Educated people tend to NOT follow the rest of society around, typically finding financial success thanks to their originality and individuality that allows them to stand out from among their fellows. People who can't make their own decisions, or, who make them and fail to make good ones, are the types that end up in the military. And the police department. And, well, hell, anywhere that orders are followed without question. At least, until the draft restarts. Then we're all gonna be in there.

Kerry's comment is quite telling actually. In terms of losing an election to a guy who is possibly, the most defeatable incumbent president of my lifetime, political missteps are a must. I think to a certain extent Dana is right, however Kerry should still appologize because what he said was in fact rude (telling a person in a wheelchair he can't run fast, while true, is minimally impolite). What is really disheartening at this point is the outlook of the Democratic party for the next presidential election: our two leading candidates are Hilary Clinton and Barack Obama. I'm a fan of Obama, but the reality is that a 45 year old black democrat is likely to get Mondaled in the next election against the likes of Guilliani, McCain and others. Good Post Koshe.
